Ben is a talented all-round musician. While studying with us, Ben was key to the musical life of the University, accompanying and participating in countless concerts and musical events. I remember hearing Ben play a recital on the Canterbury Cathedral organ in Summer 2013; Ben had organised the event beautifully, and the appreciative audience heard a performance with the very highest levels of musicianship. A truly magical musical moment.Dr Vanessa Hawes, Senior Lecturer in Music, Canterbury Christ Church University
Ben is a conscientious, creative and intuitive musician. He brings genuine flair and experience to the organ console. When I’m conducting choirs and ensembles in services, ceremonies and concerts with Ben accompanying I have no doubt that he will be utterly reliable in supporting and shaping the music. Ben threw himself into solo, ensemble and chapel music while at university and it is so pleasing to see his continuing development as he pursues a professional career in music. He is a credit to Canterbury Christ Church.Dr David Allinson, Director of Music, Canterbury Christ Church University
I have been able to work with Ben on a number of occasions in recent years, most notably at an organ concert at St Andrew’s Church, Feniton where I was his registrant. The detailed work put into the preparation of the material used was impressive – almost scary! It was a privilege to have had an active role in that performance.Mr John Maybery, Assistant Organist for Ottery St Mary Parish Church
I have also worked with Ben as a conductor, including sharing choral workshops with him. Again, his attention to detail and desire to honour the composer’s intentions was remarkable, as was his ability to enthuse and bind together a very disparate band of singers.
I would highly recommend Benjamin Scott if you need an accompanist or a soloist for your event. He is the ultimate professional and makes sure he adapts his playing to suit any environment, big or small.Mrs Rebecca Robinson, Soprano
As a Soprano with a fairly light voice he played so delicately to make the most of my performance. I will definitely be putting his name in my contact book if I need someone to accompany me.
I have been receiving organ lessons from Ben for just over a year. We have worked on particular areas of organ technique including pedalling and registration.Mr Patrick Dunn, Concert Pianist & Head of Music Performance, Dane Court Grammar School
Ben is a well-trained organist in my opinion. His demonstrations are very competent and comes with an excellent knowledge of the organ repertoire from all periods and styles. To each session, he brings a very good knowledge of musical fundamentals and communicates all aspects of musical interpretation and performance practice with enthusiasm and humour. This is complimented by a very professional manner which is both friendly and purposeful.
I think that I have improved a lot this year from Mr Scott’s teaching; he is friendly and easy to talk to and helps patiently to let his students learn at their own pace. I look forward to having my lessons each week as they let me do what I love in a focused environment.Piano Student, Dane Court Grammar School
I have been receiving vocal tuition from Ben for just over a year now, and the quality of my voice and vocal technique has seen dramatic improvement! His dedication to myself and other students is what makes his style of teaching so effective, hence my success in reaching targets surrounding my voice. Not only is he an excellent teacher, but his personality shines through his teaching: you can tell he is passionate about his craft, and is determined to pass on his vast amounts of knowledge.Vocal Student, Barton Court Grammar School
Ben was our organist at St. Martin and St. Paul Canterbury from October 2013 to June 2015. He was at that time a student but displayed considerable maturity in his working relationships with myself and the Parish staff, with our choir director and choir, and was very much appreciated by the congregations.Reverend Canon Noelle Hall, Rector for The Parish of St Martin and St Paul, Canterbury
He is a very fine and talented organist with a depth and breadth of vision embracing all kinds of music from the most traditional church music to the modern worship song. He was also very conscientious in organising our musical resources.
Ben’s playing was always sensitive to the occasion; he showed a mature awareness of the power of the organ always ensuring that the instrument was played in such a way as to enhance and inspire worship rather than to dominate it.
